It wasn't until today, when I saw the movie I Am Sam (2002, starring Sean Penn and Michelle Pfeiffer*) that I remembered this dear episode from our English class. About the middle of this emotional roller coaster, Penn tells a story about how McCartney had written only a half of Michelle, and then Lennon added "I love you, I love you, I love you…".
* It is the story about a mentally-challenged father who enlists the aid of an attorney to help regain custody of his seven year-old daughter. Penn outdone himself. I warmly recommend.
